THE CREATIVE COALITION AND THE NATIONAL HUMANITIES CENTER JOIN OVATION’S STAND FOR THE ARTS COALITION

Celebrated Collage Artist Lance Letscher, Director/Editor Sandra Adair and Composer Graham Reynolds Announce Their Pledge to Stand For The Arts

Ovation has announced that The Creative Coalition and the National Humanities Center are joining its Stand For The Arts coalition to raise awareness, protect access and encourage action on behalf of the arts and culture.  In addition, acclaimed collage artist Lance Letscher, director/producer Sandra Adair, and composer Graham Reynolds are also joining the coalition.  The announcement was made by Liz Janneman, EVP of Network Strategy, Ovation.

The Creative Coalition is the premier nonprofit, nonpartisan social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment community. The National Humanities Center is the only private, nonprofit institute dedicated exclusively to advanced study in all areas of the humanities.

Lance Letscher is an Austin, TX-based artist, who is the subject of a new documentary film, The Secret Life of Lance Letscher, which premiered on Ovation TV on November 19. The film is directed, produced and edited by Sandra Adair, A.C.E, who received an Academy Award nomination for her work as a film editor on “Boyhood”. Graham Reynolds is an award-winning composer, whose recent work includes scoring Richard Linklater’s latest film “Last Flag Flying”.

“The arts have never been more under threat than they are today,” said Jessica Yas Barker, director of Corporate Relations, Ovation. “That is why it is so important that organizations and individuals like these join together to advocate for the arts, further promoting the groundswell in this country that protecting the arts is essential to our economy and cultural well-being.”

Actor and president of The Creative Coalition Tim Daly said, “The Creative Coalition is honored to be part of Ovation’s Stand For The Arts Coalition. It’s time that our country’s leadership use their voices and their votes to support the Arts — which benefit our communities, our youth, our service members, and everyone in our society.”

Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition added, “Arts are the pervasive force of what’s necessary to move a civilization to a cultured and productive society.  We are proud to join together with Ovation to ensure that one of the nation’s most essential resources stay vital within the national agenda.”

“The arts and humanities are integral to a healthy society and contribute in innumerable ways to helping us all lead more fulfilled and productive lives,” said Robert D. Newman, president and director of the National Humanities Center. “We are pleased to join the other outstanding organizations and leaders working to advocate for the arts and humanities across the country.”

These recent Stand For The Arts coalition members join other nonprofit arts and culture organizations in the effort to shed light on the positive socio-economic impact of the arts on individuals, communities and our country, including: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, American Alliance of Museums, Americans for the Arts, Art Table, Arts Action Fund, Arts for LA, Arts Orange County, California Arts Advocates, Californians for the Arts, Creative Action Network, Dizzy Feet Foundation, Film Independent, Ford’s Theatre Society, Grantmakers in the Arts, Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, Infinite Flow, LA Stage Alliance, National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, National Dance Education Organization, National Guild for Community Arts Education, National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, PEN America, PEN Center USA, San Diego Regional Arts & Culture Coalition, Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, The LAMP, Theatre Forward, White Hall Arts Academy and California State Senator Ben Allen.
