Greenville, S.C.: Ovation, America’s only arts network, will join Spectrum to recognize and award the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities $10,000 as part of their Stand for the Arts joint initiative, which is dedicated to supporting local arts, cultural and educational organizations.
Representatives from Ovation and Spectrum will cohost the event, Tuesday, October 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Greenville One Center located at 1 N. Main St. in Greenville.
“We have partnered with Spectrum to recognize the Governor’s School and their outstanding work both as a highly creative arts organization and a key contributor to the community and the local economy,” said Sol Doten, V.P., Content Distribution and Marketing, Ovation. “Spectrum has been a great partner and supporter of Ovation and we are extremely pleased that they have joined us for our Stand for the Arts Awards program.”
“We’re proud to stand with Ovation to salute the Governor’s School for its innovative programming,” said Ben Breazeale, Charter’s Sr. Director of Government Affairs. “All of this year’s Stand for the Arts Awards honorees truly enrich the communities they serve across the country.”
In addition, Spectrum will also run public service announcements to highlight its Stand for the Arts partnership with Ovation and reinforce the value local arts organizations bring to communities across the country.
Grant recipients were chosen based on three criteria: their level of community outreach and engagement, their ability to create inclusive access to artistic programming and their innovative approach to arts education and skills development.
“The Governor’s School is very honored to be recognized by Ovation and Spectrum as a Stand for the Arts award recipient,” said Dr. Cedric Adderley, President of the Governor’s School. “This generous award will help support our free, public performances and outreach events in the Upstate, as well as provide additional funding for our arts education initiatives for South Carolina’s artistically talented students.”
