Wine Critic Jancis Robinson and Sommelier Jaega Wise Join Returning Wine Experts Joe Fattorini and Amelia Singer for a Second Palate Teasing Tour Around the World
Los Angeles, CA: Actor James Purefoy (Hap and Leonard, Altered Carbon) joins Matthew Goode (The Crown, Downton Abbey) in the second season of the fan-favorite lifestyle/documentary series The Wine Show, coming to Ovation TV this November. From their beautiful new villa in France, Purefoy and Goode set off on a new challenge in every episode, uncovering some of the best wines in the world, and telling the stories that surround them. Back in the UK, Matthew Rhys (The Americans) is in glamorous and historic London St James’s on his quest to find gadgets old and new. Season Two of The Wine Show will air on Ovation starting Thursday, November 15th at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.
In addition to tasting the wines brought back from around the globe, Purefoy and Goode are tasked by wine expert Joe Fattorini to find a case of wine to match a six course French lunch cooked by Michelin starred chef Stephane Reynaud. But this year, Joe is not judging. Jancis Robinson, the world’s most influential wine critic, decides which wines make it to the Wine Show Case. And she is taking no prisoners. Wine expert Amelia Singer returns and sommelier Jaega Wise joins the series. Countries visited this season include the USA, Canada, Georgia, Spain, Japan, Argentina, Bosnia and Germany.

Episode 1 – Thursday, November 15 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
Joe Fattorini tries to make a wine fan out of comedian Gina Yashere in California, whilst in Cotignac Matthew Goode and James Purefoy search for a wine to pair with the show’s amuse-bouche. Meanwhile, Joe and Matthew Rhys weigh in with some new wine based gadgets.
Episode 2 – Thursday, November 22 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
Joe Fattorini examines Malbec’s development in Mendoza, before looking at the spiritual and practical nature of sake in Japan with Jaega Wise. Matthew Goode and James Purefoy head underground in Ardeche, while Matthew Rhys discusses the case of transporting wine.
Episode 3 – Thursday, November 29 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
Joe Fattorini explains wine’s origins in Georgia. Matthew Goode and James Purefoy revisit Cannes in search of a pairing for calamari. Matthew Rhys looks at wine out of the bottle, while Amelia Singer and Joe discover alternative methods of picking in California.
Episode 4 – Thursday, December 6 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
Joe Fattorini chases down wine in the Médoc. Matthew Goode and James Purefoy head to Burgundy to find a match for Coq au vin. Matthew Rhys pours and spills wine. Amelia Singer and Joe learn more about the emerging wine regions of British Columbia.
Episode 5 – Thursday, December 13 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
James Purefoy and Matthew Goode are in the Camargue on the hunt for wines to match the cheese course in the epic French lunch. Joe Fattorini is in Bosnia to find out how one vineyard is trying to heal some very open wounds of war. And he joins Amelia Singer in St Tropez for an inspiring beach lunch with legendary winemaker Sacha Lichine.
Episode 6 – Thursday, December 20 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
Matthew Goode and James Purefoy visit a traditional bouchon in Lyon where they eat tripe, calves head and pike before heading off to satisfy their sweet tooth at Pralus, a patisserie famed for its Praluline brioche. Joe Fattorini and chef José Pizarro head to Rioja to find wines for a dinner at one of San Sebastian’s oldest Gastronomic Societies, Kanyonetan. Jaega Wise is tasked with trying to convince Joe that he should really be drinking beer in a very festive Munich, in the southern German state of Bavaria.
Episode 7 – Thursday, December 27 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT
James Purefoy and Matthew Goode introduce six wines chosen by some of the world’s greatest sommeliers. In their restaurants around the world, the chefs create some inspiring wine and food pairings. The episode also revisits some of the highlights of Matt and James’s journey around France.
